Top 10 reasons to love your Whitby Library

Here’s the scoop. October is Canadian Library month and October 20-26 is Ontario Public Library week. This makes it the ideal time to celebrate all things Whitby Library! We’re looking to spread Library Love all month long and with that in mind, we’ve put together a top 10 list of reasons to love your Whitby Library. 

1. Our spaces and Staff top the list! We hear consistently from our patrons they feel a sense of belonging when they step through our doors. Perfect, since that’s at the heart of what we do.
2. Our collections are our bread and butter. There are so many things to borrow at no cost. The latest best seller, an old classic, graphic novels, music, DVDs, magazines, video games, and just a whole bunch more.
3. Our digital content is truly amazing. From streaming movies and audiobooks to endless projects on Creativebug to research databases and thousands of free courses on LinkedIn Learning, there is something for everyone.
4. Speaking of something for everyone, our programs are carefully designed and created to appeal to all ages and interests.  Four times a year, we publish an impressive Program Guide chock-full of events, workshops, and thrilling programs.  Pick up a guide at any of our locations or browse online.

5. Our Discovery Zones are the place to be for entrepreneurs, creatives, and anyone looking to try something new. From 3D printing to Adobe Creative Cloud software to button makers, and a top-of-the line sound booth, explore a range of technology with your Library card.
6. History buffs, we’ve got you. Explore Whitby’s past with access to our Archives. Look through historical photos, research family histories, and dive into old newspapers. And that’s just the start.
7. Probably not a huge surprise to hear our staff are massive readers! Our WPL Staff Picks page has recently been revamped to make it easier than ever to find your next great read.
8. Our World Languages collection is growing and growing! If you haven’t checked out what languages we offer lately, have a look. 
9. Need to print, reserve a spot to meet, or find a quiet area to focus? We’re here for you. Book a meeting room, sit in our quiet space or get help with your printing needs. Our Staff are happy to help.

10. Who doesn't love simplicity. To experience all of these amazing opportunities, it’s as easy as dropping by one of our three locations. You can also sign up for Library card or go online for an e-card. Endless possibilities await!
