Recruitment Process
Step 1: Job Posted
We post our open jobs here: WhitbyLibrary.ca

Step 2: Initial Contact
We will contact selected candidates to schedule a time to talk about the job, work culture, hours of work, basic expectations and answer your questions.
Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for step 3.
Step 3: In- person Interview
We will only contact shortlisted candidates to schedule an in-person interview. The in-person interview is usually done by a two-person panel and held at the library. A copy of the interview questions will be provided to the candidate to reference during the interview. The interviewers will take turns asking questions and noting your answers.
We will be asking about previous experience in areas such as problem solving, customer service, and other skills as noted in the job posting. Your answers should focus on explaining the situations and how you handled it.
Types of Questions to expect:
- Why are you interested in the role and how does your experience match the role?
- Customer service, while rewarding can be difficult. Please give us an example of a situation where you were serving a challenging customer. Walk us through how you handled the situation.
All candidates interviewed in-person will receive follow-up communication with next steps.
The successful candidate will receive an offer of employment. Our hiring process includes reference checks, a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records check, where applicable, and compliance with organizational policies.
