The Whitby Public Library offers a variety of accessible formats:
- decodable books
- large print
- audiobooks on CD
- eAudiobooks and eBooks
- a selection of Braille picture books
- DVDs with described video and closed captioning
- DAISY readers and discs
- memory care kits
Material can also be borrowed from other libraries through interlibrary loan and through the Centre for Equitable Library Access.
Each location has an accessible public computer station with ZoomText magnification and NVDA screen reader software. The Central Library has a magnifying aid to enlarge newspapers, magazines, forms, etc, and the Brooklin Branch has a handheld digital magnifier than can be checked out and used in library.
Assisted Listening Devices
Provided by the Town of Whitby in consultation with the Canadian Hearing Society, all locations of the Whitby Public Library have the following:
- T-loops
- Ubi-Duos
- FrontRow ToGo sound-field systems (upon request for meetings and community events)

Visiting Library Service
Visiting Library Service provides library materials to Whitby residents who cannot visit the Library due to illness, disability, or other circumstance. Items are selected by staff and delivered by a volunteer on a regular schedule. This service is available year-long pending volunteer availability.
