Replacement costs apply. Replacement cost(s) for damaged or lost library material is the amount listed in the Library's database. Overdue items are considered lost after 8 or 24 days depending on the item.

Borrowing privileges (including digital content) are suspended when outstanding charges total $20.00 or more.

Pay Fees Online

You can pay your library account fees online with your credit card (VISA and MasterCard).

Here’s how:

  1.  Log in to your Library account using a web browser. Note: online payment is not yet available via the My WPL app

  2. Under My Account, choose Fees from the My Borrowing section.

  3. If you have outstanding fees, a Pay Fees button will be visible. Click on the Pay Fees button and follow the prompts to proceed with your payment.

Collection Agency for Overdue Accounts

Unique Management, a collection agency specializing in libraries, assists the Whitby Public Library to recover long overdue items. Accounts with fees of $50.00 or more are referred to Unique Management. A $15.00 non-refundable administration fee is added to those accounts.

This policy helps us bring long overdue items back to the Library. Items not returned are not available for other customers to borrow. Replacing these items can be costly, using library funds which could be spent on new titles.

This policy does not affect most customers who return materials on time. Most library items can be renewed in person, by phone or online. After-hours Book Returns are available at all three Whitby Public Library locations.
