Are you a poet, and do you know it? April is National Poetry Month and we’re celebrating with a fun contest! Submit a poem by April 21 in one of two divisions: Grades 7-12 or the 18-plus category. Submission boxes can be found at our three locations starting April 2. Winners will receive a prize and their poem will be published on the Whitby Public Library website.
The details:
- One poem submission per person.
- Your submission must be your own original work.
- Please include your name, grade or age range, and phone number on your submission.
- By submitting your poem, you are consenting to have your work potentially posted on the Library website.
- Poems will be judged by a panel of staff to determine our winners.

What to remember:
- Your submission needs to be dropped off in-person and placed in our submission boxes.
- Don’t forget to indicate what category you’re in: Grades 7-12 or the 18-plus category.
- It’s important to include your name, grade or age range, and phone number on your submission.
- Keep it real. Make sure it’s your own work.
- Have fun!
