Saying goodbye to the summer routine and heading into the post-Labour Day reality can be tough, but your Library is ready to help make things easy as we race towards the 2026 back-to-school season! Check out our new staff picks list that has all the back-to-school vibes.
Along with figuring out lunches and filling up backpacks, this time of year can be an amazing opportunity to build strong literacy skills, develop confidence, and foster a love of learning that can last all year long.
Regular reading remains one of the most powerful ways to strengthen literacy skills, build vocabulary, improve comprehension, and encourage critical thinking. That's why our collection includes thousands of books, eBooks, graphic novels, eAudiobooks, and magazines for readers of all ages and interests. From reluctant readers discovering a new favourite series to advanced readers looking for their next challenge, there's something for everyone on our shelves.
Of course, digital literacy has become an essential skill for students navigating research projects, online learning platforms, and digital resources. Our Library offers free access to databases, educational websites, eBooks, and digital learning tools that help students find reliable information and build strong research habits.
And the best part is, it’s all free with your library card!
This fall, we're also offering a variety of programs designed to make learning fun. Preschool storytimes help young children develop early literacy skills through songs, rhymes, and interactive reading. School-age programs encourage creativity and curiosity with hands-on activities, STEM workshops, book clubs, and writing challenges. Teens can connect with peers through dedicated programs that foster learning, leadership, and self-expression. Check out our fall programs in our easy-to-use online calendar.
The start of a new school year brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve great things. We're proud to be part of that journey and look forward to helping students and families build literacy skills, inspire curiosity, and create a lifelong love of learning.
See you at the library this fall!
