Creating a sense of welcome and belonging is at the core of what we stand for here at the Whitby Library. Our staff works hard every day to nurture an environment of service excellence and community connection. The Library also has a role to play in creating space for the sharing of insight and perspectives.
On March 5 at the Central Library, we will host an evening of storytelling and education. Join us at 7 p.m. for an enlightening and important conversation as a panel of experts delve into the complexities of antisemitism. This event will explore the historical roots, present-day manifestations, and social impacts of antisemitic beliefs and actions.
Our distinguished panel will share insights on combating hate, fostering understanding, and creating inclusive communities. Whether you're seeking to broaden your knowledge, raise awareness, or find ways to contribute to a more just society, this promises to be a thought-provoking and essential conversation.
Our panelists include Rabbi Tzali Borenstein, the founder of the Chabad Jewish Community Centre of Durham and Emma Cunningham, an active member of Durham’s Jewish community and a member of the political panel for Canadian Jewish News’ The Daily Podcast. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Barbara Perry, a professor in the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities at Ontario Tech University and the Director of the Centre on Hate, Bias, and Extremism.
