There’s only one way to describe the community’s reaction to the Library’s March Break Bluey programs: sensational! So sensational, in fact, that the story has to be shared. Since the beloved Rossland Branch is our smallest location and staff anticipated a great deal of interest in the program, people were asked to register for capacity purposes. Staff were absolutely amazed to see more than 80 people line up on the day of the party to see if there was any room to join! Thanks to the quick acting efforts of staff and volunteers, everyone who showed up was able to participate.
Brooklin Branch was scheduled to host their drop-in party the next day so Rossland staff, still buzzing from the excitement of their program, let their colleagues know there might be a large crowd. More than 150 people showed up at Brooklin Branch for the celebration, and once again, our staff and volunteers ensured everyone had a fabulous time!
Then it was Central Library’s turn. There were extra volunteers on hand to help with the expected crowd. And again, Whitby turned up in droves to celebrate all things Bluey! Rachel, Manager of the Children’s and Adult Fiction department, said, “We know how passionate people are about Bluey, but we were still surprised by the overwhelming turnout!”
Bluey is a lovable and inexhaustible six-year-old puppy who, along with her sister Bingo, her parents, and her friends is learning all about the world. And it’s safe to say she has fans in Whitby! The Library was thrilled to be a part of so many families’ March Break plans.
Drop by any of our locations and ask our staff about Bluey books. We’d be happy to continue promoting the power of reading by sharing the Bluey love.
